"When we launched Kidsaware in September
2001, it was from personal necessity to help both our sons with their
life threatening allergies to nuts. We were faced with daily problems of
communicating our sons' allergies when the boys were at nursery school,
with friends, family or carers, at birthday parties, days out and
overseas trips. We created a unique range of products to help improve
allergy awareness, and to help protect our own and other susceptible
children from the trauma of anaphylactic shock." This continues to be
the driving force behind our business.
We now have an extensive range of Allergy Awareness
Products for nut and other food allergies which has developed in
conjunction with the tremendous feedback and support we receive from our
customers, as well as the ever changing requirements of our own
children. The products, which are constantly under review, are retailed
via the internet and mail order. We provide leaflets for clinics and
schools and any support organizations or individuals involved with the
management of allergies.
Kidsaware now sells clothing and accessories
for babies, young children, teenagers and adults who suffer with a
variety of allergies to help improve communication and thus avoid
unnecessary exposure to allergens. We also sell products to carry vital
medication and are constantly looking for new helpful products to add to
the range. All Kidsaware products carry messages that the wearer
has allergies and many of our items including luggage tags and labels
can be personalized.
We believe it is vital to raise awareness of the
fact that an allergy can be potentially fatal. Nut allergy for example
now affects 1 in 50 people, the majority being young people and it is a
sad fact that the numbers of people with allergies seems to be growing
while the medical knowledge and resource lags behind.
Our customers tell us that our products make their
children feel special, not different and help with their confidence. All
our products are personally designed by us and our small team, (most of
who are also affected by allergies) and also our children who we know
are our ultimate judges...
